Spiewak Golden Fleece Apparel Catalog
This catalog was designed as a tactile object as much as a printed piece — an editorial experience built around material, texture, and heritage. Created to commemorate the company’s 100-year anniversary alongside the Golden Fleece collection, the design tells a story of longevity, craftsmanship, and quiet permanence through a restrained black-on-black visual system.
More than a Catalog
Production details played a central role in the final experience. Interior pages were rivet bound to give the piece a sense of permanence and utility, while the custom string-and-button enclosure referenced archival document wraps and field notebooks. Together, these elements transformed the catalog into an object intended to be handled, opened slowly, and kept.
Elevated Print Techniques
The cover featured two distinct hot stamp applications: a metallic foil stamp for the illustrated tree mark and typography, paired with a clear gloss stamp used to create concentric ring patterns across the surface. The layered finishes introduced contrast through reflection and texture instead of color, rewarding close inspection and physical interaction.
Photo Shoot
Custom photography was art directed and treated to dissolve seamlessly into the dense black paper stock, allowing garments and silhouettes to emerge subtly from shadow rather than sit sharply on the page. This approach created a cinematic mood while reinforcing the understated tone of the collection. The result was a print piece that balanced fashion editorial aesthetics with handcrafted industrial detailing.
