Brand Identity

Ojalá came to us because they were looking for a logo & brand book that evoked latine. We were ready for the assignment! Our team envisioned a mark that was modern, but cultural to reflect a brand that lifts up and amplifies latine voices. 

LATINE FROM THE GROUND UP
We built a custom team of creatives who drew from their diverse latine backgrounds, infusing their work with lived cultural experience.

EDUCATORS, NOT SALESPEOPLE
The team was co-led by Michelle LeClerc, an educator in infographic design at Tyler School of Art, and Shannon Doronio. Shannon Doronio is an advocate for amplifying the voices and stories of underrepresented populations in visual culture. She is a graphic designer, educator, and public speaker. She is currently the Department Chair of the Graphic & Multimedia Design program at College of the Canyons in Valencia, California. She has led branding projects for non-profit organizations 826 National, and KYCC as well as Angeleno neighborhood favorites like The Bagel Broker and the Dirty Laundry Bar.

Ojala was founded by Tanya Saracho, creator, showrunner, and executive producer of “Vida”

Working closely with the Ojalá team, we developed a moodboard of type, image and style inspiration to draw from. We then set to work illustrating and designing several options. Here, you’ll see just a few.

The Mark

The result was a wordmark that was watchful, empowering, and nurturing. We placed an emphasis on conveying the hand of the artist, with imperfect linework both on the typeface and illustration.

Mickey took on the enormous task of creating the complete branding and look for our new company Ojalá, a name we chose for its layered cultural context and aspiration. We knew we wanted to tap into our Latinidad in a timeless, spiritual and elegant way, and she brought so many exciting ideas which proved her intuition from ideation to final design was impressively aligned with what we sought. As important was her collaborative nature, flexibility, availability and ability to work under deadlines to get it finished by our launch! We couldn’t be more happy with the final design!
